杜門不復出，
久與世情疎。
以此爲良策，
勸君歸舊廬。
醉歌田舍酒，
笑讀古人書。
好是一生事，
無勞獻子虛。

FOR a long time you have shut yourself
Behind closed doors, severing your worldly ties;
This is a good and wise principle.
I too counsel you to return to your old home,
There to get drunk with country wine and sing.
And smile and delight to read the ancient books.
How greatly such a life would uplift you!
Why then aspire to glory with your literary talents?
